TRAINING: Centering BIPOC holistic healers #3 — Shiatsu massage with Sheila
1–2:30 pm
This TRAINING is specifically for BIPOC people.
Centering BIPOC holistic healers is a series of three TRAININGS where the current (holistic) health space is being challenged by intentionally inviting BIPOC health practitioners into our home.
The entire series is initiated by Sekai Makoni, whereby each TRAINING starts with an embodied experience of what countering whiteness can look like by centering healers of color. In this last session, we do this by inviting Shiatsu therapist Sheila Chitanie, who is also known as the founder of BIPOC health center, KABRA. On February 26th, she will guide us through a physical workshop where she allows us to embrace the power of Shiatsu—a therapeutic form of bodywork from Japan.
The second half consists of a public dialogue between Sekai, the health practitioner, and you, where we will collectively speak about health spaces, experiences, and liberation practice through bodywork for BIPOC people. This communal session of holistic politics resonates deeply with the ‘Care for Justice’ theme & is aimed to be a reminder of the joy, importance, and healing qualities brought by BIPOC health practitioners and our/their practices.
