Chris Evans
Chris Evans’ (1967, UK) lives and works in London. His work is characterised by the realisation of unsolicited assignments and evolves through conversations with people from a broad range of professions – people selected in relation to their symbolic or public role. Recently this has included the directors of a luxury jewellery company, the editors of Morning Star newspaper, and members of the international diplomatic community. Collaboration becomes entangled along invisible paths of consultation and negotiation, as social processes become crystallised in art objects. Recent exhibitions include solo presentations at Praxes (Hat, Hat, Hat, Uniform), 2015; Markus Luettgen, Cologne (2015); Project Arts Centre (Clerk of Mind, (2014), Piper Keys (Untitled (Drippy Etiquette), 2014); The Gardens, Vilnius (CLODS, Diplomatic Letters, 2014); Juliette Jongma, Amsterdam (CLODS, Diplomatic Letters (2012)); Luettgenmeijer, Berlin (Goofy Audit (2011)); Marres, Maastricht (The Cell That Doesn’t Believe In The Mind That It’s Part Of (2010)); Mala Galerija, Ljubljana (I Don’t Know If I’ve Explained Myself (2010)); Objectif Exhibitions, Antwerp (Take A Bureaucratic Bow, (2009)); Galerie Juliette Jongma, Amsterdam, The Netherlands (Point at it, like a farmer at a pig, (2008), and Lüttgenmeijer, Berlin (What’s the point of a revolution without copulation, copulation, copulation, (2008)). In 2007 he undertook a residency at Artpace, San Antonio culminating in a solo exhibition and the following year produced a series of artworks under the title As Simple As Your Life Used To Be at the British School in Rome.
