A Mic Of One’s Own: The Politics of Language

For this English edition of A Mic of One’s Own, Kunstinstituut Melly and The Writer’s Guide (to the Galaxy) join forces once again! This time we’ll be inspired by Romily Alice Walden who created a new language – xây ithřa – as an antidote against the restrictiveness of English.

We invite writers, poets, spoken word artists and songwriters to share their thoughts about language. How do we find the words to express ourselves? Does the language of the patriarchy still work in an intersectional feminist space? Should we invent a new one or will chaos ensue?
