Michel Foucault’s famous analysis of the care of self culminates today in a closed-circuit of self-pornographization. Late capitalism and a postgender world together build the frame for an ongoing process of re-defining sexuality. Sexuality is no longer understood as a realm of truth, but as a territory for inscribing the zones of pleasure as market value. Pornography has left its segregated and well-guarded place within society to reach out for a subject, left with its body, a body which does not stand for another body as the signifier of desire and pleasure, but a body which sells its organs, genitals, and erotic zones for the price of surviving.
