The Dr. A.H. Heineken Stichting voor de Kunst and Witte de With invite you for the Dr. A.H. Heineken Prize for Art lecture by artist Yvonne Dröge Wendel.

Things, object and artifacts are recurrent themes in Yvonne Dröge Wendel’s career. In 1992, she married and took the name of ‘Wendel', a closet she inherited from her mother. In 1994, she had her Renault 16TL blessed in Rome. Since 2000, numerous performances took place involving Black Ball, an enormous ball of felted wool. This work was on view in Leeuwarden, Bolzano, Newcastle, Istanbul, Odense, Johannesburg and Rotterdam. At the beginning of 2008, Dröge Wendel set up Item Store: a shop for things that had yet to be defined. At the moment, she works on her new work Denk Tank, literally a Think Tank.

On 29 September 2016, Yvonne Dröge Wendel was awarded the prestigious Dr. A.H. Heineken Prize for Art 2016. The jury unanimously praised Dröge Wendel for her originality, vitality and innovation, and her both playful and philosophical research into the relation between man and things. Her practice is illustrated in this short video by Henk Visser (DigiEmotion).
