BOOKS with Karima Boudou

[figure books_with_karima_boudou]

In this BOOKS program, Boudou opens up her research into the remarkable life and archive of Mehdi Ben Barka (1920-1965). A politician and pan-Africanist, Ben Barka was also deeply engaged with literary and cultural life. Ben Barka is know as a major figure of Moroccan independence movement as well as a key instigator of the renowned 1966 Tricontinental Conference in Havana.

In tribute, Boudou will present two parallel lists of books. The first will be books on loan from the personal library of Ben Barka, while the second will be titles that have shaped Boudou’s own research and practice. Together these will reflect on the connection of our own historic times with the revolutionary and pan-Africanist era of the 1960s.

The program is presented with the support of Institut Mehdi BEN BARKA, Mémoire Vivante, and with special thanks to Bachir Ben Barka.

Please be sure to register attendance, as availability is limited.

BOOKS is a monthly events series hosted free of charge in MELLY. The titles introduced in each BOOKS program go on sale, and become the inventory of our MELLY bookshop.
