Dimitri Madimin
Dimitri C. Madimin (b. 1975, Rotterdam) is a Dutch-Surinamese visual artist and researcher whose multidisciplinary practice encompasses film, music, DJing, performance, and curation. Trained at the Rietveld Academy, he honed his expertise in audio and film during his time in the United Kingdom. Madimin's work, which spans diverse media including film, music, visual art, photography, and live performance, is unified by a focus on inner-city cultures, extractivism, and post-colonial identities.
Madimin's art has been showcased at prominent venues and festivals, such as Circuit Centre d’Art Contemporain Lausanne, Art Basel, Miami Art Week, the United Nations in Geneva and NYC, BIG Biennale Geneva, Direktorenhaus Museum Berlin, and the International Film Festival Rotterdam, among others.
As a music producer and composer, Madimin is a pioneer of the Dutch eclectic music movement, blending genres to create innovative soundscapes. He performs and produces under the aliases Dim Browski, Dr. Madimin and Bordello Roses, and is a founding member of the Dutch rap group Ruyzdael and the multidisciplinary artist collective KISS Escort.
