Cihad Caner
Cihad Caner is an Istanbul-born, Rotterdam-based artist. His practice explores the politics of the image through video, photography, music, motion capture and CGI. Cihad's research-driven practice revolves around (re)presentation, language, marginalization and alterity. His fictional CGI characters are often multilingual protagonists in non-linear, metaphorical narratives that use humour, absurdity, and poetry to critique the status quo. In recent years, he has exhibited at Istanbul Modern in Turkey, Shahun Zarinbal in Germany, Kunsthal Mechelen in Belgium, and Nest, TENT Rotterdam, and Nieuwe Instituut in The Netherlands, among others. Cihad has been a resident artist at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam from 2021-2023.
