Liz Johnson Artur
Liz Johnson Artur is a photographer working and living in London, England. Since the 1990’s, she has documented the lives of people in her local South London context as well as of communities around the world. Her images demonstrate a candid and spontaneous way of capturing individuals and communities in various forms of gatherings. Liz’s archive, developed over 35 years, is unchronological – it grows according to her rules as a strategy for coexisting with the many individuals she encounters along the way. Her work has been shown internationally including at the Brooklyn Museum in the US, the 10th Berlin Biennale in Germany, the South London Gallery in the United Kingdom, and Foam in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, among others.
