Tyler & Sebastiaan Koudijzer
Tyler (1990) and Sebastian (1993) Koudijzer merge word and visual art. In May 2020, for the project JAMPA, they searched the archive of the Nederlands Fotomuseum to find images depicting the story of their ancestors' journey from Java through Suriname to the Netherlands. In early 2021, they exhibited their project "Door Roeien en Ruiten" at the Nederlands Fotomuseum at the exhibition "Threshold Space”. In 2023 they traveled with their grandparents to Suriname to explore their family story. Together they went after the memories that their grandparents told about for years. This research led to the exhibition 'De Gesuikerde Onderneming' in Verhalenhuis Belvédère. Here they brought together spoken word, photography, images and food. This year the brothers will exhibit chapters from 'The Sugared Enterprise' in different places and in different ways. They did this for the first time at the Rotterdamse Boekenbal and will do it this time in collaboration with Melly!
