Dane Mitchell

Dane Mitchell was Aotearoa New Zealand’s representative at the 58th Venice Biennale. He has presented solo exhibitions at Mori Art Museum, Tokyo; daadgalerie, Berlin; Institut D’Art Contemporain, Lyon; Te Papa, Wellington Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki, Auckland; Govett-Brewster, New Plymouth; Gertrude Contemporary, Melbourne; SAM Sound Art Museum, Beijing; Adam Art Gallery, Wellington; RaebervonStenglin, Zurich; Christopher Grimes Gallery, Los Angeles; Artspace, Auckland; A Gentil Carioca, Rio de Janeiro, and Galerie West, The Hague, amongst many others. He has participated in a number of biennales, including Venice Biennale; Biennale of Sydney; Liverpool Biennial; Bangkok Biennale; Gwangju Biennale; Singapore Biennale; Thailand Biennale; Ljubljana Biennale, Sao Paulo Biennale; Busan Biennale, Klontal Triennale (CH) and Tarra Warra Biennial. Curated exhibitions in the last year include those at Ludwig Museum; Tai Kwun Contemporary; University of Queensland Museum of Art; Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetū and Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki. Dane Mitchell holds an academic position at the University of Melbourne and is represented by The Renshaws (AUS).
