Elky Rosa Gerritsen
Elky Rosa Gerritsen is a (theatre) maker, performer, and writer. Not necessarily in that order. From all these different roles, she tells stories that are socially relevant, often with a philosophical approach. The shape is liquid. Documentary, physical and interdisciplinary are words that suit her. In this way, she wants to give the audience a direct sensory experience. Focused on feeling and experiencing, so that rational thinking is postponed for a while.
Elky studied language and culture studies (BA), Literary Studies (MA) and Dutch Law (P) at radboud university in Nijmegen. She then started at the Toneelacademie Maastricht with a part-time Teacher and Director course. In addition to her own performances, she also works on behalf of others. The themes that return are identity, boundaries, and connection.
She is currently working on LEUN together with Godelieve Meijers. A research into leaning. Towards dependence and independence.
