Sara Sallam
Sara Sallam is an Egyptian multidisciplinary artist, publisher, and educator based in the Netherlands. Her research-based practice includes photography, film, writing, voice narration, archival interventions, and self-publishing handmade books. Her work focuses on the retelling of history by imagining counter-narratives and exploring fiction and temporal juxtapositions as ways to reclaim and decolonise her ancient Egyptian heritage. Sallam has shown her work most recently at the Museo Egizio, Turin; the Royal Museums of Art and History, Brussels; and the Rijksmuseum van Oudheden, Leiden among others. She holds a BA in Media Design from the German University in Cairo, an MA in Film and Photographic Studies from Leiden University, and an MA in Photojournalism and Documentary Photography from London College of Communication.
