Susanne Khalil Yusef
Susanne Khalil Yusef was born in Germany to parents that were Palestinian refugees, and now lives and works between Amsterdam and Arnhem. She makes immersive colorful installations by combining a wide range of media, such as murals, canvas paintings, textile, ceramics, video, light objects, performances, bronze sculptures, cars, public participation and self-created archives. In these installations she portrays the precarious and dangerous struggle of being a refugee and the issues Palestine faces today. She studied at the St Joost academy in ‘s Hertogenbosch, where she obtained her bachelor and Master’s degrees in Fine Art, and currently she is at the Rijksakademie Residency. She has exhibited at Het Noordbrabants Museum, ‘s-Hertogenbosch; and Valkhof Museum, Nijmegen; among others.
