Nicoline van Harskamp
Nicoline van Harskamp (b. 1975, Hazerswoude, the Netherlands) is an artist and teacher who lives and works in Amsterdam. Her works consider acts of language and solidarity, they have a performative character, in which spoken language forms the core. They take the form of live stagings, video, installations and publications. The performances staged by Van Harskamp revolve around the meaning and nuances of language, and the way in which spelling, sound and meaning reflect society. An important part of this is the name: for the performance series, My name is language she asked hundreds of people: what is your name, who gave it to you and what does that name mean in language? Van Harskamp currently teaches as a Professor for Performative Art at the University of Fine Arts in Münster, Germany.
