Richard Serra
Richard Serra (b. 1939, USA) is a minimalist sculptor and video artist exploring the relationship between artwork, site and viewer through his large-scale, site-specific works for urban and landscape settings. He has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions internationally, including: Documenta 5 (1972), 6 (1977), 7 (1982), and 8 (1987); the Venice Biennales of 1984 and 2001; and the Whitney Museum of American Art’s Annual and Biennial exhibitions of 1968, 1970, 1973, 1977, 1979, 1981, and 1995. His latest shows include Richard Serra Sculpture: Forty Years, The Museum of Modern Art, New York (2007) and Promenade, MONUMENTA, Grand Palais, Paris (2008).
