Brian Dudley Barrett
Brian Dudley Barrett (UK) is an experienced international art historian, who has worked as a museum curator, designer, illustrator and conservator, from Japan to Jamaica, from Cameroon to Canada, and all over Europe. He was based in Denmark for two decades, organising many museums and exhibitions across Scandinavia and on down to Belgium and France. He was awarded a PhD from the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen in 2008, for his thesis on “North Sea Artists’ Colonies, 1880-1920 – their Development and Role in Marketing Modernism”. He has written more than a dozen art history books and continues research into the rise of Modern Art markets and certain technological innovations behind their success, namely tubed paint and new colours. He is now based back in the UK, yet still works worldwide.
