Lene Berg
Lene Berg (b. 1965, Oslo) studied film at Dramatiska Institutet in Stockholm. She has directed two feature films: En Kvinnas Huvud (1997) and Kopfkino (2012); her video-installations and films include Stalin by Picasso or Portrait of Woman with Moustache (2008), The Man in the Background (2006), Body is Found Fully Clothed on Bed… (2001) and 33 minutes (1999).
Lene Berg integrates film, text and still photography in her work. Through the use of different media forms, narrative structures and techniques she explores relationships between contemporary images and inherited ideas; between facts and clichés; between story-telling and ideology. Berg pursues questions about the construction of imagery and the similarities and contradictions between propaganda and politics. She clearly pays attention to what is usually disregarded, forgotten and/or what does not fit the general picture or story.
She lives and works in Oslo, Berlin and New York.
