Sami Hammana
Sami Hammana is an artist focused on Schizoaestehtics, and is a Teacher and Coordinator of the Honours Programme at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam. Schizoaesthetics is concerned with that which is above, and that which is below the ‘phenomenological threshold of perception’. The output of this methodological logic often results in visual projects that are either accompanied by, or infested with, essayistic texts. Or in other words, the research I conduct into systems, infrastructures and networks that are only partly visible, dictates an artistic practice that is accordingly only partly visible (visual work coexisting with written work). Sami holds a BA Honours in Product Design from the Willem de Kooning Academie and a MA with distinction in Research Architecture at the department of Visual Cultures, Goldsmiths University of London. Sami has been teaching in, and coordinating, the Honours Programme at the Willem de Kooning Academie since 2019.
