Fariba Derakhshani
Fariba Derakhshani is part of the Supervisory Board of Kunstinstituut Melly.
Following studies in Political Science and International Relations, Fariba Derakhshani joined the Prince Claus Fund for Culture and Development in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, where she is the Chief of Special Projects. She directs and manages the Fund’s annual awards for excellence, innovation and outstanding achievement by artists and cultural institutions based mainly in Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa, and Asia. Her remit includes presentations, publications, fund-raising, public relations, and initiatives to promote and disseminate the work of the laureates through exhibitions, performances, lectures, and symposiums.
Born in Iran and drawing on more than 17 years experience of cultural issues, her special insight into non-western regions, and her extensive network, Fariba advises and consults widely with partners and international contacts in the arts and cultural field. She has contributed to the programs of numerous international cultural institutions.
