Mor Shani
Mor Shani (Israel, 1985) is a freelance choreographer based in the Netherlands. He started his professional career as a dancer in Bat Dor dance company in Tel Aviv (Israel). In 2009 he graduated from the choreography department of ArtEZ dance academy in Arnhem and has since been making his own creations in different productions houses. Shani’s work is presented across Europe, and has won several international awards. The duet Lu Carmella that was made in collaboration with Ron Amit, was nominated for the Dutch VSCD Zwaan award for ‘most impressive dance production’ of 2009. Since 2010, Shani has been a resident choreographer with Dansateliers Rotterdam. In this context he created the piece Flatland that was selected to the European Aerowaves network as one of the best young makers’ creations. At Dansalteliers he also made the pieces Gravity and Grace and Caliber (in collaboration with Conny Janssen Danst). Nowadays Shani teaches in different contexts in the Netherlands and Israel, and is starting his collaboration with ICKamsterdam as an artist in residence.
