Aruna Vermeulen
Aruna Vermeulen (1976) has hiphop culture running through her veins. She internalized its universal values to contribute to a world in which all people can flourish without limitations. She does this in her role as co-founder and director of HipHopHuis, but also as a dancer, festival programmer, art curator, and member of numerous cultural boards and committees. She’s the recipient of the Laurenspenning 2012, a prize for an individual who has made a notable impact on the city of Rotterdam, as well as the Doro Siepel Prize in 2019, awarded to a Rotterdam cultural organization that strives to include new groups of visitors.
