Charly van Rest
Originally trained as a visual artist in Rotterdam, Charly van Rest (1949) art making has mainly consisted of performances, installations, sculptures, and photography. In the early 1970s, he developed his own photo techniques, such as the ‘ion photo’ in which the electrical charge of soot and dust particles was neutralized to create an image; he also began making his own music and sound tapes for his performances as well as for fellow artists. Since 2000, Van Rest’s attention shifted to primarily creating music and sound. He has provided or created the sound and music for films and exhibitions by many artists and institutions. This website has a resume of Charly van Rest by Frits Gierstberg, and this website is about audio/music made for and together with artists.
