Claudia Martínez Garay
Claudia Martínez Garay lives and works between Amsterdam y Lima. Her work deals with the socio-political memory and history of Perú, and its relationship with official and unofficial visual archives and cultural material. She studied at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, and did the residency at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam and ARTPACE San Antonio, Texas. She has presented her work at: SAVVY Contemporary, Berlin; Sifang Art Museum, Nanjing; Museo del Barrio, NY; Museum Albertinum, Dresden; Kunstverein Braunschweig; 21a Bienal de Arte Contemporânea Sesc_Videobrasil; 16th Istanbul Biennial; 5th Ural Industrial Biennial of Contemporary Art; Aichi Trienniale, Japan; 12th Shanghai Bienniale and 2018 New Museum Triennial, NY. She has received the following recognitions: Stokroos Prize, NL; 2019 LOOP Acquisition Award for the best video presented at LOOP Fair Barcelona; 3Package Deal, NL. Her work is part of the collections: Fundación LOOP lent to MACBA; Akzonobel Fundation; Fundación CIFO; KADIST Collection; KPMG Art Collection, Amsterdam; Lima Art Museum (MALI); Micromuseo al fondo hay sitio; Fundación Studi e Richerche Benetton; Banco Central de Reserva del Perú; Sifang Art Museum, Nanjing; THE EKARD COLLECTION, and several private collections.
