Bérénice Staiger

Bérénice Staiger is a Rotterdam based artist, German born. In her work, Bérénice explores different notions of motherhood: Caring for, memories of one's childhood, passing on information such as language/dialect, family traditions, and customs. She is also interested in recurring patterns connected to upbringing. From birth onwards, it is a game between parent and child of seeking closeness and distance. Bringing up a child involves a lot of repetition; repetition to master movement, repetition to learn a language, etc. Also as a parent in caring for a child encounters elements of repetition and rhythm. Bérénice explores these elements in her work in different mediums such as drawings, community projects, meetings, discussions, performances, mapping, and archiving.
