In 2021, the museum was nominated for the European Museum of the Year Award, the Champions League among museums.

Trust is everything at LAM. A successful art experience starts with confidence, Sietske knows. ‘At LAM we do everything we can to let visitors experience that they can rely on their own knowledge. We know that everyone can relate to art, more than most of us think. Art knowledge can help you in viewing art, but with a little curiosity you already have everything you need to get a lot out of it.” At the same time, the LAM museum encourages the opposite. 'A healthy dose of mistrust makes you look critically. At the art, but certainly also at yourself.'
