Lisa Tan
Lisa Tan was born in 1973 in Syracuse, New York, USA, and currently lives and works in Stockholm, Sweden where she is Professor of Fine Art at Konstfack University College of Arts, Crafts, and Design. She works with video, photography, text, and installation, and other gestures. Her own experiences of desire, loss and otherness, serve as drivers for explorations into consciousness, the formation of individual subjectivity, and the role that different representations play in shaping a person’s relationship to the world and to others. She regularly draws from literature, literary theory and the history of photography. Tan is concerned with the ways in which images and language shape political consciousness, the formation of individual subjectivity and desire.

Her work is included in the public collections of Moderna Museet, Stockholm, Sweden; Malmö Konstmuseum, Sweden; the City of Oslo’s public art collection; and Coleção Moraes-Barbosa, São Paulo, Brasil. Lisa Tan is represented by Galleri Riis, Oslo, Norway.
