Publication Studio Rotterdam
Publication Studio Rotterdam (PSR), the Dutch branch of the Publication Studio network was founded by artist Micha Zweifel and designer Yin Yin Wong inside Het Nieuwe Instituut in 2015. While there, the studio functioned as an open workshop and publisher, generating titles and holding many events within the studio space at the museum. In January 2017, the studio moved to its own storefront in Rotterdam North to focus more heavily on being a print-on-demand self-organized studio. The studio provided printing, design, and editing services alongside commissioning its own titles, which primarily focus on working with artists who wouldn’t otherwise have the means to publish their work. Later in the year, Isabelle Sully joined the team as editor, and the studio started to explore other concurrent forms of ‘publishing’, like exhibition-making, social sculptures, and workshops, often working in collaboration with other arts organizations and institutions.
Publication Studio is a printer and binder able to make books one at a time and a social gathering place for those interested in publication or in publishing their own work. Founded in 2009 in Portland, Oregon by writers Patricia No and Matthew Stadler, Publication Studio prints and binds books one at a time on-demand, creating original work with artists and writers. Publication Studio uses any means possible to help writers and artists reach the public: physical books, an online library, eBooks, and unique social events with our writers and artists in many cities including Paris, Sao Paolo, Glasgow, Vancouver, and Hong Kong.
